2017 Lodgepole Complex Fire
The year of 2017 brought us one of the most challenging summers our ranch has encountered since 1960. In what was the driest summer in decades, a lightning storm on July 20 ignited the 3rd largest wildfire in Montana history. This fire consumed over 270,000 acres. Through the ashes however emerged an outpouring of generosity and support from around our county, our state, and the entire county. We had a chance to stand side by side with neighbors to defend many ranches against the fire. We saw incredible generosity from people donating hay and fencing supplies. We also formed lasting relationships as volunteers came from all over to help rebuild fences and assist in locating lost cattle. We will be forever grateful and appreciative of the support from others in recovering from this disaster.
