Grass is the fuel that nature provides as the economic engine of this ranch.  Sunshine and the occasional timely rainfall provide the energy to make the most of this short grass prairie.  In order to harvest what nature provides, we have spent years developing a herd of cattle that can thrive in this environment.  



Our cows are expected to thrive in these sometimes harsh conditions.  We typically start calving in April, as Winter gives way to spring and cows are expected to calve on their own and raise that calf with minimal help.  Striking a balance between available forage and expected weaning weights has resulted in moderately sized cattle working best for our operation.



Careful sire selection from a number of highly reputable herds has been an important tool in striking this balance between growth based traits and high quality maternal cattle.
